The rain-cloud came at dawn, driven by the south wind,
The early morning dew, chased by the ostriches,
and watered you to fullness, O dwelling of Umama.
Watered you, O abode of my love.

Demand rain though the clouds are miserly,
that clouds should lavish rain on crumbled ruins.
Reluctant to shed more than a drizzle.

Except what God knows I seek from the clouds.

How long this forgetting, while my intercessor
Then long for my superiority and seize
guards remembrance of me and concern for me?
The remnants you find of me hastily.

If your clouds frown upon me,
Draw it in slowly, sweetly
when can I hope for a smile from my earth?
To inundate the aloofness abundantly.

Why did bitter weariness strike me suddenly,
Your characteristics shake the earth
from a youth once infatuated with loving me?
Traversing and settling the land.

Yes, I excuse you; but seek
Were my miracles constituted in you
an excuse before Glory when Glory blames you.
The poetry would pray to it and fast.

Consider what answer you will give to Loftiness
Or the dead would come to life in shyness
if it comes angered for me, or keeps away.
As you spread beauty, decayed and forgotten.

So long for what is left of me, and seize
So listen attentively and remain
whatever remnants of me you find.
A possession protecting it when dawn disperses the darkness.

Draw from it sweet drops
And one morning a garden of my dwellings
that water indifference, in abundance and drought.
Strolled leisurely like a bride on a Nayrouz morning.

It sweeps the earth with descriptions of you,
And a delegation came to untie pledges
covering the earth, in travel and repose.
Approaching the group and uniting.

If my miracles in praise of you were set up
Each day your gatherings have
as a qibla, Poetry would pray toward them and fast.
A profitable market found nowhere but in you.

Or if the dead cried out, seeking life from them,
their beauty would raise decayed remains and skulls.

on Nowruz morning—heavy clouds and heaped cloudbanks,

Every day, congratulations in your presence have
a profitable market that will never be held elsewhere.
