ياO ليلةًnight ماnot رأتهاsaw it أعينُthe eyes of الغِيَرِreversals of fortune

O night unseen by the eyes of adversity!
Before it, no joy of mine escaped sorrow's taint.

As though it shared my joy at what
It bestowed, it lingered, though a night's span is brief.

I despaired of its morning, until I turned toward
The face of evening, consoling it for the lost hour before dawn.
كمmany a يومday of سُخطٍdiscontent صفاbecame serene ليfor me منهfrom it ليلُa night of رضىًcontentment
حتىuntil وهبتُI forgave ذُنوبَthe sins of الشمسِthe sun للقمرِfor the moon's sake
Many a day of discontent yielded me a serene night of contentment,
Until, for the moon's sake, I forgave the sun its sins.
