رَتَقتَ بِها الفَتقَ الَّذي بَينَ هاشِم
You have triumphed—may no Barmakid hand wither.
You have triumphed—may no Barmakid hand be paralyzed.
With it you mended the breach among Hāshim,
With it you mended the rift within the house of Hashim,

فَكَفّوا وَقالوا لَيسَ بِالمُتَلائِمِ
when making it whole had defeated all its menders;
when its mending had defeated the menders;
they desisted and said, “It cannot be made whole.”
so they desisted and said, "It cannot be knit together."

مِنَ المَجدِ باقٍ ذِكرُها في المَواسِمِ
And now your hands have carried off a deed
So now your two hands have won a distinction
of glory whose memory endures at the seasonal gatherings.
of glory whose memory endures at the seasonal gatherings.

The lot of sovereignty has never ceased to emerge victorious
And the lot-arrow of kingship has always emerged victorious
for you whenever the contestants’ lots are gathered.
for you whenever the lot-caster's arrows were gathered.
