أَصابَbefell الرَدىdeath قَوماًpeople تَمَنَّواthey wished لَكَfor you الرَدىdeath
أَصابَ الرَدى قَوماً تَمَنَّوا لَكَ الرَدى
لأَنَّكَbecause you أَعطَيتَgave الجَزيلَan abundant amount وَصَرَّدواand they gave little
لأَنَّكَ أَعطَيتَ الجَزيلَ وَصَرَّدوا
Death befell people who wished death upon you,
Misfortune has struck a people who wished misfortune upon you
because you gave abundantly, while they gave little.
Because you were generous while they were mean
سَيَذهَبُwill pass away ماwhat ضُمَّتwere closed عَلَيهِaround it أَكُفُّهُمُtheir hands
سَيَذهَبُ ما ضُمَّت عَلَيهِ أَكُفُّهُمُ
وَيَبقىand will remain لَهُمfor them فيamong الناسِthe people ذَمٌّreproach مُخَلَّدُeverlasting
وَيَبقى لَهُم في الناسِ ذَمٌّ مُخَلَّدُ
What their hands closed around will pass away,
What they have gathered in their clenched fists will disappear
and everlasting reproach will remain their lot among the people.
But their shame amongst people will remain immortalized
وَتَبقىand will endure أَياديكَyour benefactions الكَريمَةُnoble بَعدَماafter
وَتَبقى أَياديكَ الكَريمَةُ بَعدَما
يُواريكَburies you وَالجودَand generosity الصَفيحُthe stone slabs المُنَضَّدُstacked
يُواريكَ وَالجودَ الصَفيحُ المُنَضَّدُ
And your noble benefactions will endure after
While your generous hands will live on after you are gone
the stacked stone slabs bury you and generosity.
And buried beneath this vaulted tomb
