من قرأ الإكمال كانَ كاملاً

من قرأ الإكمال كانَ كاملاً

في عِلْمه فزيّن المحافلا

في عِلْمه فزيّن المحافلا

Whoever reads Al-Ikmal becomes complete

Whoever read Al-Ikmal was perfect

in his knowledge, and so adorns the gatherings.

In knowledge, adorning gatherings

وكتبُ العلم كنوزٌ إنها

وكتبُ العلم كنوزٌ إنها

تفيدُ قلبا عاجلاً وآجلا

تفيدُ قلبا عاجلاً وآجلا

And books of knowledge are treasures; indeed, they

And the books of knowledge are treasures

benefit a heart, now and later.

That benefit the heart soon and later

وليس من كتب عياضِ عوَضٌ

وليس من كتب عياضِ عوَضٌ

فإنه كانَ إماماً فاضلا

فإنه كانَ إماماً فاضلا

And there is no substitute for the books of ʿIyad,

And there is no substitute for the books of Iyad

for he was a distinguished imam.

For he was an eminent imam
