تمام السرور بحور القصور

لدى روض نور يرق الظبا

Joy is complete with the fair maidens of the palaces,

Beside a garden of blossoms, where gazelles grow tender.

بحسن عجيب وجسم رطيب

حكاه القضيب إذا ما انثنى

With wondrous beauty and a supple body,

Which a slender bough resembles whenever it bends.

حياة النفوس بطيب الجلوس

بقرب عروس كشمس الضحى

The life of souls lies in the pleasure of sitting

Near a bride like the midmorning sun,

بتعديل قدٍّ وتوريد خدِّ

كحمرة ورد علاه الندا

With a well-proportioned figure and a rosy cheek,

Like the redness of a rose upon which dew has settled;

وخصر رقيق وقدِّ رشيق

وحسن أنيق يفوق الورى

And a slender waist and a graceful figure,

And exquisite beauty surpassing all humankind;

وطيب المقيل بقرب الخليل

وظل ظليل بدار العلا

And sweet noonday rest beside the dear friend,

And deep shade in the abode of glory.

سيلقى مناه وأقصى رضاه

بمولىً يراه فذاك المنى

He will attain his wishes and his utmost contentment

With a lord whom he beholds—for that is the wish.
