فحقّ لنا أن نعتني بولادةٍ

ونجعلَ ذلكَ اليوم خيرَ المواسم

ونجعلَ ذلكَ اليوم خيرَ المواسم

So it is fitting for us to honor a birth,

And make that day the best of festivals;

وأن نصلَ الأرحام فيه تقرباً

وأن نصلَ الأرحام فيه تقرباً

ونغدو له من مُفطرين وصائم

ونغدو له من مُفطرين وصائم

And maintain kinship ties that day, seeking nearness to God,

And go forth for it in the morning, some not fasting and some fasting;

ونتركَ فيه الشغلَ إلا بطاعة

ونتركَ فيه الشغلَ إلا بطاعة

وما ليسَ فيه من ملامٍ للائم

وما ليسَ فيه من ملامٍ للائم

And set aside work that day, except for acts of obedience

And whatever gives a faultfinder no cause for blame;

ونتبعَ فيه الصالحين فإنهم

ونتبعَ فيه الصالحين فإنهم

هدونا بأنوارِ الوجوه الوسائم

هدونا بأنوارِ الوجوه الوسائم

And follow the righteous that day, for they

Have guided us by the radiance of their fair faces.
