يا مَنْ لشيخ قدْ أسنَّ وقد عفا

مذْ جاوزَ السبعين أضحى مُدنفَا
Oh, who will help an old man who has aged and wasted away?
O you whose sheikh has grown old and has been forgiven
Since he passed seventy, he has become gravely ill.
Since passing seventy he has become frail
خانتهbetrayed him بعدَafter وفائهاtheir faithfulness أعضاؤهhis limbs
خانته بعدَ وفائها أعضاؤه

فغدا قعيداً لا يُطيق تصرّفا
His limbs, once faithful, have betrayed him.
After his loyalty, his body parts have betrayed him
So he became incapacitated, unable to move about.
So he has become disabled, unable to move

A decrepit stranger, he has no companion
An old stranger who has no companions
Except the sayings of Muhammad and the Chosen One.
Except the words of Muhammad and Al-Mustafa
