I inhabited love’s abode with a heart
I have filled a quarter of passion with a heart
Unbowed before the power of love.
Whose strength of love is unmatched

I stayed there, trailing the hem of
I have lingered in it, dragging the train
Grudges—how dear it is to the wearer!
Of the robe I loved for the wearer

If I die of yearning, I have a passion
If I die of longing, my love has a plantation
Whose plant sprouts through sickness.
Whose crops grow in sickness and misery

يصرفturns aside بلواهits affliction كلُّevery حادسconjecturer
As for the tale of love, it is true;
As for the talk of love, it is true
Every conjecturer turns aside its affliction.
That turns away its afflictions from every introverted one

I grew weary with longing for a beloved;
I grew weary of longing for a beloved
Because of him I am wretched as long as I live.
With whom, as long as I live, I am miserable

He struts like a bough, in which there swayed
He sways like a branch humbled in him
A glance; so every swaying figure fell short.
A gaze, so I envy every fortunate one

A world revealed itself to every pledge;
A world that seemed attainable to all, but
So what a guardian he is of his world!
He is to his world, what guardian?
يلعبُhe toys بالعاشقينwith the lovers طُراًall without exception
والكلُّand all رضوانُRiḍwān (contentment) وهوwhile he عابسscowling
He toys with all the lovers,
He plays with lovers coyly
And all are Riḍwān, while he scowls.
And they are all satisfied, while he is sullen
