يَقولُ المُشفِقونَ عَلَيَّ حَتّى

يَقولُ المُشفِقونَ عَلَيَّ حَتّى

مَتى تَلقى الجُنودَ بِغَيرِ جُندِ

مَتى تَلقى الجُنودَ بِغَيرِ جُندِ

Those who fear for me say, “How long

The anxious say to me, for how long

will you face armies without an army?”

Will you face soldiers with no army?

وَما من كانَ ذا سَيفٍ وَرُمحٍ

وَما من كانَ ذا سَيفٍ وَرُمحٍ

وَطابَ بِنَفسِهِ مَوتاً بِفَردِ

وَطابَ بِنَفسِهِ مَوتاً بِفَردِ

And he who has a sword and a spear

None who wields a sword or spear

and whose soul welcomes death is not alone.

Seeks a lonely death willingly
