تُذَكِّرُنيremind me قِبابُdomed tents التركِof the Turks أَهليmy people
وَمَبداهُمand their desert camp إِذاwhen نَزَلواthey encamped سَناماat Sanām
The Turks’ domed tents remind me of my people,
and their desert camp when they settled at Sanām;
وَصَوتُand the voice حَمامَةٍof a dove بِجِبالِin the mountains of كِسٍّKiss
دَعَتshe called مَعat مَطلَعِthe rising of الشَّمسِthe sun الحَماماthe doves
so does a dove’s voice in the mountains of Kiss,
calling to the doves at sunrise.
فَبِتُّso I spent the night لِصَوتِهاbecause of her voice أَرِقاًsleepless وَباتَتand she spent the night
بِمَنطِقِهاwith her speech تُراجِعُنيshe exchanges with me الكَلاماwords
So I spent the night sleepless because of her voice, while she spent it
exchanging words with me in her own speech.
