رفَعتُ في شاطئ الآمالِ أشرعتي

رفَعتُ في شاطئ الآمالِ أشرعتي

وحُسنُ ظني بربّ الناسِ بوصلتي

وحُسنُ ظني بربّ الناسِ بوصلتي

I raised my sails on the shore of hopes.

I raised my sails at the shore of hopes

And my hopeful trust in the Lord of humankind was my compass.

And my good assumption of the Lord of mankind was my compass

مَضيْتُ في رحلةِ الأيامِ مُبتسماً

مَضيْتُ في رحلةِ الأيامِ مُبتسماً

وكانت الغيمةُ البيضاءُ مؤنِسَتي

وكانت الغيمةُ البيضاءُ مؤنِسَتي

I went forth on the journey of days, smiling,

I went on the journey of days smiling

And the white cloud was my companion.

And the white cloud was my companion

وقلتُ ياخالقي أنتَ الأمانُ فكم

وقلتُ ياخالقي أنتَ الأمانُ فكم

أمّنْتَني بشعورٍ فاقَ أخْيِلتي

أمّنْتَني بشعورٍ فاقَ أخْيِلتي

And I said, “O my Creator, You are safety, for so often

And I said, oh my Creator, you are safety, so how

You have made me feel safe with a feeling beyond my imaginings.”

You gave me a feeling that exceeded my imagination

لطالما سُدّتِ الأبوابُ أزمِنةً

لطالما سُدّتِ الأبوابُ أزمِنةً

كأنّ أقفالها تهوى مُعانَقتي

كأنّ أقفالها تهوى مُعانَقتي

So often the doors were shut for ages,

For long the doors were closed as times

As though their locks longed to embrace me.

As if their locks wished to embrace me

فكان فضلُكَ يأتيني ويغمُرني

فكان فضلُكَ يأتيني ويغمُرني

يرُدّ لي بسمةً ماتتْ على شفتي

يرُدّ لي بسمةً ماتتْ على شفتي

So Your grace would come to me and envelop me,

So your grace would come to me and immerse me

Restoring to me a smile that had died on my lip.

Restore to me a smile that died on my lips

رغمَ الذي حلّ مِن دمعٍ ومِن ألمٍ

رغمَ الذي حلّ مِن دمعٍ ومِن ألمٍ

تبقى فضائل ربي بين أوردتي

تبقى فضائل ربي بين أوردتي

Despite the tears and pain that befell me,

Despite what came of tears and of pain

My Lord’s blessings remain within my veins.

The virtues of my Lord remain between my veins

عسى الذي حقّقَ الرؤيا ليوسفهِ

عسى الذي حقّقَ الرؤيا ليوسفهِ

يُريحُ قلبيَ في تحقيق أمنِيتي

يُريحُ قلبيَ في تحقيق أمنِيتي

May He who fulfilled the dream for His Joseph

Perhaps He who fulfilled the vision for His Joseph

Bring peace to my heart by fulfilling my wish.

Will comfort my heart in fulfilling my wish
