The hearts of the bereaved moan with longing.

They almost melt from the intensity of what they endure.

So no patience eases what they suffer,

Nor do they repent of their tears.

Nor does forgetfulness make them forget—and how

Will they forget the one whom sunset conceals?

The Most Merciful grants them healing,

When healer and physician are hard to find.

They have hope of a day of reunion close at hand,

Even in a dream—perhaps through it they may heal.

So if reunion on earth should one day prove elusive,

Then in God's presence, hearts come together.
