And tell the soul, if it has lost its hope,
Tell your soul, if it loses hope
and despair has begun to sap its strength:
And despair weakens its strength,

مِنof الدنياthis world وخالقُهاand their Creator كفاهاwas enough for them
Trust in God; how many souls have been afraid
Trust in God, how many souls have feared
of this world, yet their Creator was enough for them.
The world, but its Creator was enough for it.

And how many hearts have spent the night hoping in Him
How many hearts spend the night hoping in Him
to ease the sorrow they endure.
To ease what sadness has met them.
فجاءَthen came الغيثُthe rain منfrom ربٍa Lord كريمٍgenerous
بإحسانٍwith kindness وجودٍand generosity لاnot يُضاهىis matched
Then rain came from a generous Lord,
Then rain came from a Generous Lord
with kindness and generosity beyond compare.
With kindness and bounty that has no equal.

كأنّas though السّعدgood fortune لمdid not يعرفknow سواهاanyone but them
And He clothed them in a garment of joy,
And clothed them in a dress of joy,
as though good fortune had known none but them.
As if fortune knew no other but them.
ستغمُرُناwill envelop us السحائِبthe clouds عنin قريبٍa short while
بِبُشرىwith glad tidings لاnot يُحاطُcan be fathomed بمنتهاهاin their full extent
Soon the clouds will envelop us
The clouds will soon shower us
with glad tidings whose extent cannot be fathomed.
With good news that has no limit.
فعاقبةُfor the outcome البلاءِof affliction إلىtoward زوالٍpassing away
عنfrom الدنياthis world، إذاwhen بلغتit has reached مداهاits limit
For affliction's fate is to pass away
For the affliction will surely pass
from this world, once it has run its course.
From the world, when it reaches its end.
