وإن كبُرَتْ همومكَ لا تُبالِ

وإن كبُرَتْ همومكَ لا تُبالِ

فلُطفُ اللهِ في الآفاقِ أكبرْ

فلُطفُ اللهِ في الآفاقِ أكبرْ

And even if your worries grow great, do not fret,

Though your worries have grown, do not despair,

for God's kindness across the horizons is greater.

For God's kindness in the horizons is greater,

ومن غيرُ الإلهِ يُريحُ قلباً

ومن غيرُ الإلهِ يُريحُ قلباً

تخطّفَهُ الأسى حتى تكدّر

تخطّفَهُ الأسى حتى تكدّر

And who but God can soothe a heart

And none but God can comfort a heart

that sorrow has seized until it grew clouded?

Seized by sorrow until it is darkened.

سيأتيكَ الذي ترجوهُ يوماً

سيأتيكَ الذي ترجوهُ يوماً

فلا تعجَل عليهِ وإنْ تأخّرْ

فلا تعجَل عليهِ وإنْ تأخّرْ

What you hope for will come to you one day,

What you hope for will come to you one day,

so do not be impatient for it, even if it is delayed.

So do not hasten it, though it be delayed,

ولا تجزعْ وقُل يا نفسُ صبراً

ولا تجزعْ وقُل يا نفسُ صبراً

فرحمنُ السماءِ قضى وقدّر

فرحمنُ السماءِ قضى وقدّر

And do not lose heart; say, 'O soul, be patient,'

Do not despair, and say: O soul, be patient,

for the Most Merciful of heaven has decreed and ordained.

For the Merciful Lord has ordained and decreed.

سيلطفُ بالقلوبِ ويحتويها

سيلطفُ بالقلوبِ ويحتويها

ويجبرُ في الحنايا ما تكسّرْ

ويجبرُ في الحنايا ما تكسّرْ

He will be gentle with hearts and embrace them,

He will be kind to hearts and embrace them,

and mend whatever has broken in the heart's recesses.

And mend in sorrows what has been shattered.
