I say, when booty had been seized at Tiʿshār,

to Wardān: “Be earnest about it now, or play!”

May he bite what the razors left of his mother—

any guardian who saw it but did not gird himself and grow angry.

When it settles amid al-Ribāb, and around it stand—

when it is fortified—two thousand battle-hardened spearheads.

You protected a man of Khuzāʿa and the clans of Māzin,

and Wardān defends ʿAdī ibn Jundab.

The children throughout Ḍabba will recognize it:

the very same booty, returned, with nothing missing.
