بِكَthrough you اسْتَقَامَتْwas set aright مِصْرُEgypt حَتَّىuntil غَدَتْbecame
بِكَ اسْتَقَامَتْ مِصْرُ حَتَّى غَدَتْ
يَحْمَدُهَاpraises her الْوَارِدُthe one who arrives وَالصَّادِرُand the one who departs
يَحْمَدُهَا الْوَارِدُ وَالصَّادِرُ
Through you Egypt was set aright, until she became
With you Egypt was set aright, until
Praised by those who arrive and those who depart.
It was praised by all who came and went.
وَكَيْفَand how لاnot تُبْصِرُdiscerns قَصْدَthe path of الْهُدَىright guidance
وَكَيْفَ لا تُبْصِرُ قَصْدَ الْهُدَى
حُكُومَةٌa government أَنْتَyou لَهَاfor it نَاظِرُan overseer
حُكُومَةٌ أَنْتَ لَهَا نَاظِرُ
And how could it fail to discern the path of right guidance—
How could you not have seen the right path,
A government with you as its overseer?
When you were the one overseeing the government?
