يَاO نَاصِرَchampion of الْحَقِّthe truth عَلَىover الْبَاطِلِfalsehood
خُذْsecure لِيfor me بِحَقِّيmy rightful due مِنْfrom يَدَيْthe two hands of مَاطِلِيone withholding my due
O champion of truth over falsehood,
O champion of truth against falsehood
Secure my due for me from the hands of the one who withholds it.
Take my right from the hands of my deceiver
جَارَhe oppressed عَلَىagainst ضَعْفِيmy weakness بِسُلْطَانِهِwith his power
وَمَاand did not رَثَىshow pity لِلْمَدْمَعِfor the tears الْهَاطِلِstreaming
He oppressed me in my weakness with his power,
Who has wronged me with his authority
And showed no pity for my streaming tears.
And did not lament my falling tears
أَخْرَجَنِيhe dispossessed me عَمَّاof what حَوَتْهُhad held it يَدِيmy hand
مِنْof كَسْبِيَmy earnings الْحُرِّhonest بِلاwithout نَاطِلِdeceit
He dispossessed me of what my hand had held,
He drove me out from what my hands had earned
Of my honest earnings, free of deceit,
Of my honest work, without any fraud
مِنْfrom غَيْرِother than مَاany (emphatic) ذَنْبٍoffense سِوَىexcept مَنْطِقٍspeech
ذِيpossessing رَوْنَقٍbrilliance كَالصَّارِمِlike the keen sword الْقَاطِلِdeadly
Without any offense save speech
With no sin except my eloquent speech
With a brilliance like a keen, deadly sword.
As piercing as an unsheathed sword
أَتْلُوI recite بِهِwith it الْحَقَّthe truth وَأَرْمِيand I aim بِهِwith it
نَحْرَthe throat of الْعِدَاthe foes فِيamid الرَّهَجِthe dust السَّاطِلِrising
With it I recite the truth, and with it I aim
I use it to speak the truth and throw
At the throats of foes amid the rising dust.
The necks of enemies into ruin
فَإِنْso if أَكُنْI am جُرِّدْتُI was stripped مِنْof ثَرْوَتِيmy wealth
فَفَضْلُthen the grace of رَبِّيmy Lord حلْيَةُthe adornment of الْعَاطِلِthe unadorned
So if I have been stripped of my wealth,
So if I am stripped of my wealth
Then my Lord's grace is the adornment of the unadorned.
My Lord’s grace is the raiment of the dispossessed
