صَبَرْتُI was patient وَمَاand there is no بِالصَّبْرِin patience عَارٌshame عَلَىupon الْفَتَىa young man
إِذَاif لَمْnot يَكُنْthere is فِيهِin it مَعَابٌa fault وَلاnor نُكْرُa reprehensible thing
I have been patient, and patience brings no shame upon a young man
if there is no fault or disgrace in it.
وَلَوْand if لَمْnot يَكُنْthere were فيin الصَّبْرِpatience أَعْدَلُthe most just شَاهِدٍwitness
عَلَىto كَرَمِnobility الأَخْلاقِof character مَاwould not حُمِدَbe praised الصَّبْرُpatience
And if patience did not contain the most just witness
to nobility of character, patience would not be praised.
