لَهُhe has نَظْرَتَاtwo gazes جُودٍgenerosity وَبَأْسٍand might أَثَارَتَاboth stirred up
لَهُ نَظْرَتَا جُودٍ وَبَأْسٍ أَثَارَتَا
غَمَامَيْنِtwo clouds سَالاboth poured forth بِالْفَوَاضِلِwith bounties وَالدمِand blood
غَمَامَيْنِ سَالا بِالْفَوَاضِلِ وَالدمِ
He has two gazes, of generosity and might, that stirred
He has a gaze of generosity and might that stirred
Two clouds pouring forth bounties and blood.
Two clouds that poured with virtues and blood
فَكَمْso how often أَحْيَتِrevived الأُولَىthe first لُبَانَةَcherished wish مَعْشَرٍa group of people
فَكَمْ أَحْيَتِ الأُولَى لُبَانَةَ مَعْشَرٍ
وَكَمْand how often أَرْدَتِstruck dead الأُخْرَىthe other حُشَاشَةَlast spark of life مُجْرِمِa wrongdoer
وَكَمْ أَرْدَتِ الأُخْرَى حُشَاشَةَ مُجْرِمِ
How often the first has revived a people's cherished wish,
So how much did the first enliven a group of friends
And how often the other has extinguished a wrongdoer's last spark of life!
And how much did the other strike down a band of criminals
