Did you not know—and the best words endure longest—
Did you not know, and the best of speech is most enduring,
that silence is the discerning person's salvation?
That silence is the salvation of the doubtful one.
فَلاso do not تَأْمَنْtrust عَلَىwith سِرٍّa secret حَبِيباًa loved one
فَقَدْfor … may يَأْتِيcome الْعَدُوُّthe enemy مِنَfrom الْحَبِيبِthe loved one
So do not trust a loved one with a secret,
So do not entrust a secret to a lover,
for an enemy may come from a loved one.
For the enemy may come from the lover.
