Ah, dove of the grove, your mate is here,

And your bough is swaying—why, then, do you mourn?

You are unharmed, amid bliss and joy,

Yet my heart is wounded by love.

So if you would help me bear my longing, borrow

Tears for your eyes, for weeping brings relief.

And if not, spare me your cooing and depart,

For a giver and a miser are not alike.
