مَنْwho لِقَلْبِيfor my heart بِشَادِنٍwith a young gazelle
لَمْnot يُمَتَّعْbe granted enjoyment بِحَظِّهِof its share
Who will come to my heart’s aid against a young gazelle,
Who will help my heart with a young gazelle?
not yet granted the enjoyment of his share?
It has not been allowed to enjoy its share.
قَدْindeed سَبَانِيhe took me captive بِطَرْفِهِwith his gaze
وَشَجَانِيand he grieved me بِلَفْظِهِwith his words
He has taken me captive with his gaze
He has indeed taken me captive with his gaze,
and grieved me with his words.
And grieved me with his words.
كُلُّevery شَيءٍthing سَيَرْعَوِيwill come to its senses
غَيْرَexcept قَلْبِيmy heart وَلَحْظِهِand his glance
Everything will return,
Everything will come to its senses,
except my heart—and his glance.
Except my heart and his glance.
