فَهْيَfor it is مِنِّيfrom me لِناظِرَيْكَfor your two eyes فِداءُa ransom
فَهْيَ مِنِّي لِناظِرَيْكَ فِداءُ
My soul is yours, so do with it as you wish.
My friend, I have your soul, do with it what you will
For I give it as a ransom for your eyes.
It is mine to give for your eyes as ransom

Abandon me not to mere walls, my agony
a burning anguish my entrails cannot bear.
Is too great for my body to bear

I have been ailing, by God, since you went away.
Since you left I have been ill, by God
There is no remedy for me but to see you.
I have no cure but to see you again

I would be content with a glance from you

To heal the sickness overwhelming my heart

A glance that could kill or revive
and from wine come sickness and healing.
For in wine lies both malady and cure

Do not take the sleep of the profligate for health
for it is a disease that sickens the soul.
It is a disease that consumes the deceived

yet he harbors an incurable disease of rancor.
Lurks a latent sickness that hates the good
