ماءُ الحياةِ قدِ اِختفى في ظلمةٍ
بَلrather كلُّevery غيبٍhidden thing إنif عقلتَyou understand ظلامُdarkness
بَل كلُّ غيبٍ إن عقلتَ ظلامُ
The water of life has become hidden in darkness.
The water of life was hidden in the darkness
Rather, all that is hidden, if you understand, is darkness.
Rather all that is unseen, if you think of it, is darkness
إِنَّindeed السوادَblackness الحرّnoble كتّامa keeper of secrets لماof what
إِنَّ السوادَ الحرّ كتّام لما
أَودعتهُyou entrusted to it والأبيضand the white النمّامُthe tale-bearer
أَودعتهُ والأبيض النمّامُ
Indeed, noble blackness keeps secret whatever
Verily, intense black is darkness when
You have entrusted to it, while white is the tale-bearer.
I entrust it, and dazzling white is darkness
