لاماً بِها قَد تمّ حُسنُ جمالهِ
The down along his cheek wrote upon his cheek's page

And added to it, from the twin arcs of his brows,

فَكأنّهso it is as though he اِعتَمدَchose الجوابَthe reply بِلفظِwith the word لَنwill not
فَكأنّه اِعتَمدَ الجوابَ بِلفظِ لَن
لِلشائِقينَto those yearning إِلىfor لذيذِthe sweetness of وصالهِunion with him
لِلشائِقينَ إِلى لذيذِ وصالهِ
So it is as though he chose the word 'lan' ('will not') as his reply
So it was as if he gave for answer the word lan
to those who yearn for the sweetness of union with him.
To those yearning for the sweetness of union with him.
