ياO حُسينُHusayn وَأَنتand you واللّهby God ممّنamong those who
يا حُسينُ وَأَنت واللّه ممّن
حبُّهُlove for him فيin الحشاشةthe soul والصميمِand the innermost core
حبُّهُ في الحشاشة والصميمِ
O Husayn, by God, you are among those
O Hussein, and you are by Allah of those
love for whom dwells in the soul and the heart’s core.
Whose love is intrinsic and in the innermost core
حسنٌHasan; beautiful أنتyou صغّروكthey gave you a diminutive name اِحتجاجاًas proof
حسنٌ أنت صغّروك اِحتجاجاً
لِمَجيءfor the occurrence of التصغيرthe diminutive للتعظيمِfor exaltation
لِمَجيء التصغير للتعظيمِ
You are Hasan—beautiful; they made your name diminutive as proof
You are good, they belittled you as objection
that the diminutive can serve to exalt.
For the diminutive to come is for the greatest esteem
