1. أُعيذُ نَجلي بالسور

    مِن شرّ ما ساءَ وَسَر

    I seek protection for my son through the surahs,

    From the evil of what grieves and gladdens.

  2. أُعيذُه بباطنٍ

    مِن آيِها وما ظَهَر

    I seek protection for him through the inward meaning

    Of their verses, and what is manifest.

  3. حَصّنتهُ مِن شرّ ذي

    حَسدٍ وذي عينٍ نَظَر

    I have shielded him from the evil of one

    Who envies, and of one who casts the evil eye;

  4. وشرّ كلّ ذي نفثٍ وذي

    عقدٍ عَلى السحرِ اِستَمر

    And the evil of every spell-blower, and everyone

    Who ties knots and persists in sorcery;

  5. وكلِّ شيطانٍ بَغى

    مِن كلّ جنّ وَبَشر

    And every demon that transgresses,

    Among all jinn and humans;

  6. وَشرّ كلّ طارقٍ

    وَغاسقٍ وَذي ضَرَر

    And the evil of every night visitor,

    And of darkening night, and of anyone who harms;

  7. بِحفظِ ذي العرشِ الّذي

    أَحاطَ علماً وَقَدر

    Through the protection of the Lord of the Throne, who

    Encompasses all in knowledge and has power;

  8. وَما بِه قَد حُفظ الذ

    ذكرُ الكريمُ مِن غِيَر

    And by that through which has been preserved

    The noble Remembrance from alteration.

  9. أَودعتهُ للّه قا

    ئِلاً مقالَ مَن شَكَر

    I entrusted him to God,

    Saying the words of one who gave thanks:

  10. الحمدُ للّه الّذي

    وهبَ لي عَلى كِبَر

    Praise be to God, who

    Granted me a son in old age.
