يا حُسنَهُ لمّا تثنّى واِنحنى
كَمسلّمٍlike a greeter أَهدىhe offered السلامَthe greeting of peace لمجمعِto an assembly
كَمسلّمٍ أَهدى السلامَ لمجمعِ
How lovely he was when he swayed and bowed,
like a greeter offering peace to an assembly.
أَهدىhe offered السلامَthe greeting of peace لزائرٍto one visiting تلكَthat الحشاthe heart
أَهدى السلامَ لزائرٍ تلكَ الحشا
وَغَداand began يشيspeaking ill فيهof him العذولُthe reproacher لمسمعِto a listening ear
وَغَدا يشي فيه العذولُ لمسمعِ
He offered peace to one visiting that heart,
and the reproacher began speaking ill of him to a listening ear.
