My lord, the noble folk of Istanbul have
Sent me word to journey there and visit.
وَرَأواand they saw كأنّas though الدرسَteaching أتعبَhad wearied مِقوليmy tongue
فَتَدارَكوهso they came to its aid براحةِwith the comfort of الحلقومِthe throat
And they saw that teaching seemed to have wearied my tongue,
So they soothed it with “throat’s ease”—Turkish delight.
