بِالمُصطَفىby the Chosen One وبأمّand by Umm (mother of) كلKul- (part of Kulthum)
بِالمُصطَفى وبأمّ كل
ثوم-thum (completes Kulthum) مطهرةَpurified الرّداthe cloak
ثوم مطهرةَ الرّدا
By the Chosen One and Umm Kulthum,
By the Chosen One and his mother, every
whose cloak is pure,
Purifier of the bosoms,
اِحفظprotect سميnamesake of محمّدMuhammad الthe
اِحفظ سمي محمّد ال
مُنجيsavior الأنامَhumankind منَfrom الرّدىperdition
مُنجي الأنامَ منَ الرّدى
protect the namesake of Muhammad, the
Protect my name Muhammad, the
savior of humankind from perdition.
Savior of mankind from ruin,
وَاِلطُفand be gracious بِعبدكَto Your servant ياO سلاSalā- (part of Salām, Peace)
وَاِلطُف بِعبدكَ يا سلا
مُ-m (completes Salām, Peace) وَصُنand safeguard علاهُhis eminence مؤبّداforever
مُ وَصُن علاهُ مؤبّدا
And be gracious to Your servant, O Peace,
And attend to Your servant, O Eternity
and safeguard his eminence forever.
Fortify his ascent forever,
وَاِجعلand make بِفضلكَby Your grace ذكرهُhis remembrance
وَاِجعل بِفضلكَ ذكرهُ
حسناًgood وَسيرتهُand his conduct هُدىguidance
حسناً وَسيرتهُ هُدى
And, by Your grace, make his remembrance
And make his mention by Your grace
good, and his conduct a guide.
Good and his conduct guidance,
وَاِجعَلand make مَراتبهhis ranks كبيgreat (word begins here)
وَاِجعَل مَراتبه كبي
رةcompletion of 'great' أسعدٍgood fortunes قصوىutmost المدىthe reach
رة أسعدٍ قصوى المدى
And make his ranks great
And make his ranks exalted
in good fortune, utmost in reach.
The most fortunate, farthest reach
وَاِجعَلand make مَساعيهِhis endeavors إليto (pronoun follows)
وَاِجعَل مَساعيهِ إلي
كَYou (completes 'to You') حَبيبةًbeloved كُبرىgreatest الجداbenefit
كَ حَبيبةً كُبرى الجدا
And make his endeavors
And make his efforts to You
dear to You, and of the greatest benefit.
Dear, greatest fervor,
وَاِمنَحهand grant him عزّاًmight لاnot يزاceases (word begins here)
وَاِمنَحه عزّاً لا يزا
لُcompletion of 'ceases' بهِthrough it الهناءhappiness مجدّداrenewed
لُ بهِ الهناء مجدّدا
And grant him might, through which
And grant him honor unmatched
his happiness is continually renewed.
By bliss renewed forever,
بِالشاذليby al-Shādhilī اِجعَلهُmake him مرpleasing (word begins here)
بِالشاذلي اِجعَلهُ مر
ضيّاًcompletion of 'pleasing' لَديكin Your sight محمّداmuch praised
ضيّاً لَديك محمّدا
By al-Shādhilī, make him
By Shadhili make him well-pleased
pleasing to You and much praised.
With You, Muhammad,
ياO أهلَpeople of بيتِthe household of المصطفىthe Chosen One
يا أهلَ بيتِ المصطفى
دُمتمmay you endure كعقدlike a necklace نضداstrung
دُمتم كعقد نضدا
O people of the Chosen One’s household,
O Family of the Chosen One
may you endure like a strung necklace.
You remain as a polished necklace,
بالعشرِby the ten يحرسُHe guards عشركمyour ten
بالعشرِ يحرسُ عشركم
وَلَكمand for you مُناويكمyour adversary فدىa ransom
وَلَكم مُناويكم فدى
By the ten, may He guard your ten,
By the ten they guard your ten
and may your adversary be a ransom for you.
And for you their dwelling sacrifice.
