أُهدي لِحَضرتكم تحيّة شائق

أُهدي لِحَضرتكم تحيّة شائق

وَثناءَ ذي ودٍّ ودعوةَ وامقِ

وَثناءَ ذي ودٍّ ودعوةَ وامقِ

I offer Your Honour the greeting of one who longs,

I present to you a passionate greeting

And an affectionate one's praise, and a loving one's prayer,

And praise with affection and a hopeful prayer

لا للإثابةِ ثمّ أُنهي إثرها

لا للإثابةِ ثمّ أُنهي إثرها

إنّ التخلّفَ واقعٌ لعوائقِ

إنّ التخلّفَ واقعٌ لعوائقِ

Not for reward; then, after this, I report:

Not for reward and then after it I end

My absence is indeed due to obstacles.

Indeed falling short has obstacles

مِنها بشهرٍ مرّ أنّي فاردٌ

مِنها بشهرٍ مرّ أنّي فاردٌ

وَالأهلُ مَرضى وَالبناءُ مضايقي

وَالأهلُ مَرضى وَالبناءُ مضايقي

Among them: during the past month I have been alone,

For a month has passed that I am alone

And my family are ill, and building work hampers me.

Family sick and housing distressing me

عُذرٌ تركّب لي ولا من ندحةٍ

عُذرٌ تركّب لي ولا من ندحةٍ

عنهُ يحقّ قبوله من صادقِ

عنهُ يحقّ قبوله من صادقِ

An excuse has come together for me, with no escape

An excuse is compiled for me, not out of laziness

From it; it merits acceptance from a truthful person.

From it acceptance by the truthful is deserved

لا زالَ رأيكَ للخلائقِ صادراً

لا زالَ رأيكَ للخلائقِ صادراً

عَن حسنِ خلقٍ في رضاء الخالقِ

عَن حسنِ خلقٍ في رضاء الخالقِ

May your judgment toward humankind ever spring

From good character, in accord with the Creator's pleasure.

From good manners in pleasing the Creator
