وَزائرةٍ في فروةٍ كبديّةٍ
إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle نَضتهاshe shed it خلتَهاyou imagined her مُلِئتwas filled تِبراunwrought gold
إِذا ما نَضتها خلتَها مُلِئت تِبرا
And a visitor in a liver-colored fur coat—
When she sheds it, you imagine her filled with unwrought gold.
كَساهاclothed her مسيسُthe touch of النارِthe fire خالاًa beauty spot معنبراًambergris-scented
كَساها مسيسُ النارِ خالاً معنبراً
عَلىupon الوجَناتthe cheeks الصفرِyellow حتّىuntil غَدتthey became حمراred
عَلى الوجَنات الصفرِ حتّى غَدت حمرا
The touch of fire adorned her with an ambergris-scented beauty spot
Upon her yellow cheeks, until they turned red.
