مَنظومةٌa poem شَرُفتwas ennobled بمدحِby praising المُصطفىthe Chosen One
مَنظومةٌ شَرُفت بمدحِ المُصطفى
وَبِآلهِand by his family أَهلِpeople of المودّةِlove وَالصفاand purity
وَبِآلهِ أَهلِ المودّةِ وَالصفا
A poem ennobled by praise of the Chosen One,
A poem graced with praise of Al-Mustafa
and of his family, people of love and purity.
And his family, the people of affection and purity
وَتَضمّنتand it contained مِنfrom نَسلهمtheir descendants نَسباًa lineage بهِthrough it
وَتَضمّنت مِن نَسلهم نَسباً بهِ
عَبدُAbd (servant of) السلامِal-Salam (Peace) بنson of المشيشِal-Mashish تَكنّفاtook shelter
عَبدُ السلامِ بن المشيشِ تَكنّفا
It also contains a lineage from their descendants, in which
It included from his progeny a lineage in which
Abd al-Salam ibn al-Mashish took shelter.
Abdul Salam ibn Al Mishish was enveloped
تَجلوshine مَآثِرُهمtheir noble deeds كروضٍlike a garden زاهرٍin bloom
تَجلو مَآثِرُهم كروضٍ زاهرٍ
وَشّىembroidered مطارفَهُits mantles الربيعُspring وفوّفاand adorned with stripes
وَشّى مطارفَهُ الربيعُ وفوّفا
Their noble deeds shine like a garden in bloom,
Their glories shine like a blooming meadow
whose mantles spring embroidered and adorned with stripes.
In whose edges spring scattered its flowers
أَنشأتَهاyou composed it لِلمُخلِصينَfor the sincere وسيلةًa means of drawing near
أَنشأتَها لِلمُخلِصينَ وسيلةً
لاnot سيّماthe like of الصدرُthe chief الوزيرُthe minister المُصطفىMustafa
لا سيّما الصدرُ الوزيرُ المُصطفى
You composed it as a means of drawing near for the sincere,
You created it as a means for the sincere
especially Mustafa, the chief minister.
Especially the chest of the vizier Al-Mustafa
وَلَقَدand indeed أَجزتُI authorized لهfor him رِوايَتهاits transmission وأَنand that
وَلَقَد أَجزتُ له رِوايَتها وأَن
تَعدوmay surpass تِلاوتهاits recitation لهُfor him وردَthe litany of الشِّفاhealing
تَعدو تِلاوتها لهُ وردَ الشِّفا
And I have indeed granted him leave to transmit it, and for
And I have certainly allowed him to transmit it
its recitation to surpass the litany of healing for him.
And to exceed in its recitation as a healing draught
وَبِحُسنِand through the goodness of نيّتهِhis intention سَيبلغُhe will attain ماwhat رَجاhe hoped for
وَبِحُسنِ نيّتهِ سَيبلغُ ما رَجا
فيin النَشأَتينِboth lives وَيأمنand be safe from المتخوّفاwhat is feared
في النَشأَتينِ وَيأمن المتخوّفا
And through the goodness of his intention, he will attain what he hoped for
And with his good intention he will attain what he hopes
in both lives, and be safe from what he fears.
In both realms and be safe from fear
واللّهَand God أَسألَI ask أَنto يُديمsustain لَهfor him بهاthrough it
واللّهَ أَسألَ أَن يُديم لَه بها
نَفعاًbenefit وظلّاًand shade حيثُwherever يمّمhe heads أوor رَفاmakes port
نَفعاً وظلّاً حيثُ يمّم أو رَفا
And I ask God to sustain for him, through it,
And I ask God to perpetuate for him through it
benefit and shade, wherever he heads or makes port.
Benefit and shade wherever he turns or settles
