To Your House, O God, we have come with firm resolve.

There we have laid down our baggage as guests; so receive us.

You commanded that the guest be honored, and indeed this

is a practice of generosity more befitting You than us.

We have come to You, with great hopes in You,

and through al-Mustafa, the best of creation, we have sought nearness to You.

Would You deprive us, O most generous of the generous, when

we have called upon You in desperate need, in Your most exalted House?

And would You deny us—far be it from You—a breath of grace

for which we have made ourselves receptive by thinking well of You?

My God, we have stretched out our palms, hopeful and humble,

for Your outpouring; so fill them with Your fairest blessings.

We have called upon You, our hearts filled with certainty

that You will grant us what we have hoped for from You.

Exalted are You, a Lord bestowing blessings and favors,

nearer in grace to His servant than the servant's own self.

We acknowledge to You, O God, the blessings with which

You have nourished our souls and bodies ever since we came to be.

    فَكَيفَ معَ التسآلِ تَصرفُها عنّا

    And we had not asked when You bestowed them upon us;

so how could You withhold them from us when we plead?

Do sins that have grown grievous bar us from them?

Yet here we are: we have confessed them and renounced them.

We have brought all our sin in complaint to Your forgiveness,

and it is fitting that it vanish beside Your pardon.

Our means of approach is the best of creation, and his standing

before You is great; whoever has a bond with him is enriched.

Behold, O Messenger of God, indeed we have sought nearness

through your standing—how noble a standing, how exalted!

We have wronged ourselves with every kind of wrong, and indeed

we have come to you; ask God to forgive us, and receive us.

And, O Messenger of God, seek for us fulfillment

of God's promise of triumph, for we have sought refuge in you.

By your family and the Companions, especially those

    whose meteors at Badr became a fortress for the faith;

and by the Followers, inheritors of their guidance,

    and those who revived a tradition of goodness from you, or established one;

and by the saints, perfected in inheritance

and in nearness to your abode, in body and in spirit,

ask God, through your standing with Him, to bestow

upon your blessed community security and good fortune,

and to replace the hardship and distress that have befallen them

    with ease and relief embracing it all, as a gracious gift;

and inspire right guidance in everyone entrusted with authority among us,

    and grant him support, victory, and aid;

and let [bounty] fall upon us on this night in which

the wise decree in question is apportioned,

and grant each one what he has eagerly hoped for

of triumph in the abode—the loftiest goal.

And may God—exalted be His majesty—send blessings upon you,

and send peace, a salutation in which we forever exult,

and upon your family and the noble Companions, the ship of

salvation through which we hope for triumph and safety.
