O Egypt, rejoice at the festival of science,
O stronghold of learning and fortress of literature!
O bastion of knowledge, and fortress of literature,
ياO مصرُEgypt، ياO كنزtreasury of علومsciences of العربthe Arabs
يا مصرُ، يا كنز علوم العرب
بشراكِglad tidings to you بالعهدof the age الجديدnew الذَّهبيgolden
بشراكِ بالعهد الجديد الذَّهبي
O Egypt, O treasury of Arab sciences!
O Egypt, O treasure of Arabic sciences,
Glad tidings to you of the new golden age!
Good tidings to you of the new golden era,
بالعلمِthrough knowledge قدindeed شَيَّدتِyou built ركنَthe foundation of الهرمthe pyramid
بالعلمِ قد شَيَّدتِ ركنَ الهرم
وأنتِand you مهدُthe cradle of العلمlearning منذُsince القدمantiquity
وأنتِ مهدُ العلم منذُ القدم
Through knowledge you built the pyramid's foundation,
With knowledge you built the pillar of the pyramid,
And you have been the cradle of learning since antiquity.
You are the cradle of science since olden days,
أنتyou نشرتspread الفنart بينamong الأممthe nations
أنت نشرت الفن بين الأمم
فيin كلِّevery مشرقٍeastern land وكلِّand every مغربِwestern land
في كلِّ مشرقٍ وكلِّ مغربِ
You spread art among the nations,
You spread arts amongst nations,
In every eastern and every western land.
In every orient and every occident,
شبابَyouth of مصرَEgypt، ياO مناطthe mainstay of الأملِhope
شبابَ مصرَ، يا مناط الأملِ
تزودواequip yourselves بالعلمwith knowledge للمستقبلِfor the future
تزودوا بالعلم للمستقبلِ
Youth of Egypt, you on whom hope rests,
O Egypt’s youth, O pillar of hope,
Equip yourselves with knowledge for the future.
Arm yourselves with knowledge for the future,
العلمُknowledge فيin الحربwar سلاحُthe weapon of الأعزلِthe unarmed person
العلمُ في الحرب سلاحُ الأعزلِ
والعلمُand knowledge فيin السلمpeace أعزُّthe most cherished مطلبِgoal
والعلمُ في السلم أعزُّ مطلبِ
Knowledge in war is the weapon of the unarmed,
Knowledge in war is the weapon of the unarmed,
And knowledge in peace is the most cherished goal.
And knowledge in peace is the most precious quest,
ياO مصرُEgypt، فيat عيدthe festival of العلومthe sciences قدِّميpresent
يا مصرُ، في عيد العلوم قدِّمي
إكليلَthe wreath of غارِlaurel of النَّصرvictory للمُعلَّمِto the teacher
إكليلَ غارِ النَّصر للمُعلَّمِ
O Egypt, at the festival of the sciences, present
O Egypt, on the feast of sciences, present
The laurel wreath of victory to the teacher.
The wreath of victory’s cave to the teacher,
قوليsay لهto him: ياO مُنشِئَshaper of الجيلthe generation، اسلمmay you be well
قولي له: يا مُنشِئَ الجيل، اسلم
ياO خيرfinest قائدٍleader، وياand O أحنىmost tender أبَfather
يا خير قائدٍ، ويا أحنى أبَ
Say to him: O shaper of the generation, may you be well,
Say to him: O builder of the generation, take
O finest leader and most tender father!
O best leader, O most affectionate father,
عيدَfestival of العلومِthe sciences، بالسَّنَاwith radiance تَأَلَّقِshine
عيدَ العلومِ، بالسَّنَا تَأَلَّقِ
علىon سناكyour radiance الشرقُthe East طرًّاin its entirety يلتقيconverges
على سناك الشرقُ طرًّا يلتقي
Festival of the sciences, shine with radiance!
The feast of sciences, with brilliance is lit,
The whole East converges on your radiance.
Over your brilliance, the East comes together in harmony,
ياO مصرُEgypt، لوحيshine فيin سماءِthe sky of المَشرقthe East
يا مصرُ، لوحي في سماءِ المَشرق
كوكبَa star of علمٍknowledge فوقabove كلِّevery كوكبstar
كوكبَ علمٍ فوق كلِّ كوكب
O Egypt, shine in the sky of the East,
O Egypt, you shine in the sky of the orient,
A star of knowledge above every star.
