عُمرُكَyour life قَدalready أَفنَيتَهُyou have used it up تَحتَميyou shield yourself
عُمرُكَ قَد أَفنَيتَهُ تَحتَمي
فيهِduring it مِنَfrom البارِدِthe cold وَالحارِand the heat
فيهِ مِنَ البارِدِ وَالحارِ
You have spent your life shielding yourself
You have squandered your life taking shelter
throughout it from cold and heat.
From the cold and heat
وَكانَand it would have been أَولىmore fitting بِكَfor you أَنto تَحتَميyou shield yourself
وَكانَ أَولى بِكَ أَن تَحتَمي
مِنَfrom المَعاصيsins خشيَةَfor fear of النارِthe Fire
مِنَ المَعاصي خشيَةَ النارِ
Yet it would have been better for you to shield yourself
Yet it would have been better for you to take cover
from sins, for fear of the Fire.
