بِشرُcheerfulness البَخيلِof the miser يَكادُalmost يُصلِحُremedies بُخلَهُhis stinginess
بِشرُ البَخيلِ يَكادُ يُصلِحُ بُخلَهُ
وَالتيهُand arrogance مَفسَدَةٌa corrupting influence لِكُلِّfor every جَوادِgenerous man
وَالتيهُ مَفسَدَةٌ لِكُلِّ جَوادِ
The miser’s cheerfulness almost makes amends for his stinginess.
The miser is almost reformed by good news
And arrogance is a blight upon every generous man,
While stinginess corrupts every generous soul
وَنَقيصَةٌand a flaw تَبقىendures عَلىthroughout أَيامِهِhis days
وَنَقيصَةٌ تَبقى عَلى أَيامِهِ
وَمَسَبَّةٌand a disgrace فيamong الأَهلِthe family وَالأَولادِand the children
وَمَسَبَّةٌ في الأَهلِ وَالأَولادِ
And a flaw that endures throughout his days,
A flaw that remains for the rest of his days
And a disgrace among his family and children.
And causes his family and children shame
