فَلا تَهجُر أَخاكَ بِغَيرِ ذَنبٍ

فَلا تَهجُر أَخاكَ بِغَيرِ ذَنبٍ

فَإِنَّ الهَجرَ مِفتاحُ السُلُوِّ

فَإِنَّ الهَجرَ مِفتاحُ السُلُوِّ

So do not forsake your brother when he has done no wrong;

Do not abandon your brother without cause

for estrangement is the key to forgetting.

For estrangement is the key to disunity

إِذا كَتَمَ الصَديقُ أَخاهُ سِرّاً

إِذا كَتَمَ الصَديقُ أَخاهُ سِرّاً

فَما فَضلُ الصَديقِ عَلى العَدُوِّ

فَما فَضلُ الصَديقِ عَلى العَدُوِّ

If a friend conceals a secret from his brother,

If a friend conceals his brother's secret

then what superiority has a friend over an enemy?

Then he has no virtue over an enemy
