إِنَّ قَلبي مِن السِلاحِ يَطيرُ
O vigilant, raiding horseman,
O knight who roams with purpose so dire
Indeed, my heart takes flight from weapons.
My heart takes flight in armor and fire

I have no strength to endure the horses' dust
No strength have I for the battle's toll
when someone stirs up the dust,
When the dust storms rise beyond control

and the millstone of war turns upon a people:
And the wheel of war grinds men to naught
then one is slain, one flees, and one is taken captive.
Some die, some flee, some get caught

I am dull-witted in this and the like,
Yet I in times like this feel slow and dense
but in other things, discerning and expert.
While so fluent and sharp in pretense
