لا يَغلِبَنَّكَ غالِبُ الحِرصِ

لا يَغلِبَنَّكَ غالِبُ الحِرصِ

وَاِعلَم بِأَنَّ الناسَ في نَقصِ

وَاِعلَم بِأَنَّ الناسَ في نَقصِ

Let not the overpowering force of greed defeat you.

Let not the victor of greed overcome you

And know that people are imperfect.

And know that people are flawed

وَالبس أَخاكَ عَلى تَصَنُّعِه

وَالبس أَخاكَ عَلى تَصَنُّعِه

فَلَرُبَّ مُفتَضِحٍ عَلى النَصِّ

فَلَرُبَّ مُفتَضِحٍ عَلى النَصِّ

And clothe yourself in your brother, despite his pretence;

Tolerate your brother for his pretense

for many a man is disgraced under close scrutiny.

For many who expose are exposed in turn

ما كِدتُ أَفحَصُ عَن أَخي ثِقَة

ما كِدتُ أَفحَصُ عَن أَخي ثِقَة

إِلّا ذَمَمتُ عَواقِبَ الفَحصِ

إِلّا ذَمَمتُ عَواقِبَ الفَحصِ

Scarcely had I begun to probe a trusted brother

I almost trusted my brother

before I condemned the consequences of probing.

But I condemned the consequences of distrust
