إِنَّindeed العُيونَthe eyes عَلىconcerning القُلوبِthe hearts شَواهِدٌwitnesses
إِنَّ العُيونَ عَلى القُلوبِ شَواهِدٌ
فَبَغيضُهاso their hostile ones لَكَto you بَيِّنٌplain وَحَبيبُهاand their affectionate ones
فَبَغيضُها لَكَ بَيِّنٌ وَحَبيبُها
Indeed, the eyes bear witness to the hearts;
Eyes are witnesses over hearts,
so their hostility and their affection are plain to you.
So your hatred and love for them is evident.
وَإِذاand when تَلاحَظَتِexchange glances العُيونُthe eyes تَفاوَضَتconverse with one another
وَإِذا تَلاحَظَتِ العُيونُ تَفاوَضَت
وَتَحَدَّثَتand speak عَمّاabout what تُجنُّconceal قُلوبُهاtheir hearts
وَتَحَدَّثَت عَمّا تُجنُّ قُلوبُها
And when the eyes exchange glances, they converse
When eyes meet and converse,
and speak of what their hearts conceal.
They talk of what hearts conceal.
يَنطِقنَthey speak وَالأَفواهُwhile the mouths صامِتَةٌsilent فَماso not
يَنطِقنَ وَالأَفواهُ صامِتَةٌ فَما
يَخفىis hidden عَلَيكَfrom you بَرَيئُهاtheir innocent ones وَمُريبُهاand their suspect ones
يَخفى عَلَيكَ بَرَيئُها وَمُريبُها
They speak while mouths are silent, so neither
They speak though mouths are silent,
their innocent ones nor their suspect ones are hidden from you.
So neither the innocent nor the guilty is hidden from you.
