أَإِن فاتَ ما كُنتَ أَمَّلتَهُ

أَإِن فاتَ ما كُنتَ أَمَّلتَهُ

جَزِعتَ وَماذا يَرُدُّ الجَزَع

جَزِعتَ وَماذا يَرُدُّ الجَزَع

If what you had hoped for has eluded you,

If what you hoped for has passed you by

do you despair—and what can despair bring back?

Do not grieve, for what can grief achieve?

فَفَوِّض إِلى اللَهِ كُلَّ الأُمورِ

فَفَوِّض إِلى اللَهِ كُلَّ الأُمورِ

فَلَيسَ يَكونُ سِوى ما صَنَع

فَلَيسَ يَكونُ سِوى ما صَنَع

So entrust all affairs to God,

Entrust all matters unto God

for nothing comes to pass except what He has wrought.

For only what He wills will be

وَلا يَخدَعَنَّكَ صَرفُ الزَمان

وَلا يَخدَعَنَّكَ صَرفُ الزَمان

فَإِنَّ الزَمانَ كَثيرُ الخُدَع

فَإِنَّ الزَمانَ كَثيرُ الخُدَع

And do not let the turns of time deceive you,

And let not the turning of time deceive you

for time is full of tricks.

For time is full of many tricks
