أَراكَI see you يَزيدُكَincreases in you الإِثراءُgrowing wealthy حِرصاًgreed
أَراكَ يَزيدُكَ الإِثراءُ حِرصاً
عَلىfor الدُنياthis world كَأَنَّكَas though you لاdo not تَموتُdie
عَلى الدُنيا كَأَنَّكَ لا تَموتُ
I see that growing wealthy increases your greed
I see you increase your greed as wealth pursues you
for this world, as though you will never die.
As if you will never die; will you ever say,
فَهَلso, is there? لَكَfor you غايَةٌa limit إِنif صِرتَyou come يَوماًone day
فَهَل لَكَ غايَةٌ إِن صِرتَ يَوماً
إِلَيهاto it قُلتَyou say حَسبيenough for me قَدindeed رَضيتُI am content
إِلَيها قُلتَ حَسبي قَد رَضيتُ
Do you, then, have a limit such that, if one day you come
'Enough! I'm satisfied,' if one day you attain
to it, you will say, 'Enough for me; I am content'?
