أَعارَكَHe lent you مالَهُHis wealth لِتَقومَso that you might act فيهِwith it
بِطاعَتِهِin obedience to Him وَتَقضِيَand fulfill فَضلَthe eminence of حَقِّهHis rightful claim
He lent you His wealth so that you might use it
He lent you his wealth so you could
in obedience to Him and fulfill His exalted claim.
Obey Him and fulfill your obligations.
فَلَمyet did not تَشكُرهُyou thank Him نِعمَتهfor His blessing وَلَكِنbut rather
قَويتَyou gained strength عَلىfor مَعاصيهِacts of disobedience to Him بِرِزقِهthrough His provision
Yet you did not thank Him for His blessing; instead,
But you did not thank Him for His blessings. Rather,
you gained strength to disobey Him through His provision.
You disobeyed Him with the sustenance He provided.
تُجاهِرُهُyou openly defy Him بِهاwith them عَوداًagain وَبَدءاًand anew
وَتَستَخفيand you conceal yourself بِهاwhile committing them مِنfrom شَرِّthe worst of خَلقِهHis creatures
You openly defy Him with those sins, again and anew,
You openly and repeatedly transgressed,
yet conceal yourself while committing them from the worst of His creatures.
Belittling His commandments with audacity.
