لَيسَdoes not يَعتاضُreceive recompense باذِلُone who offers up الوَجهِthe face فيin الحاthe need (first part)
لَيسَ يَعتاضُ باذِلُ الوَجهِ في الحا
جَةِneed (word completion) مِنin return for بَذلِoffering up وَجهِهِhis face عِوَضاcompensation
جَةِ مِن بَذلِ وَجهِهِ عِوَضا
He gains no recompense who offers up his face in
He who offers his face in time of need
need, in return for offering up his face.
For no recompense but to fulfill a deed,
كَيفَhow يَعتاضُreceive recompense مَنone who أَتاكَcame to you وَقَدand already
كَيفَ يَعتاضُ مَن أَتاكَ وَقَد
صَيَّرَmade لِلذُلِّfor humiliation وَجهَهُhis face غَرَضاa target
صَيَّرَ لِلذُلِّ وَجهَهُ غَرَضا
How can one who has come to you be recompensed, when he has
How can he feel regret, when to your door
made his face a target for humiliation?
He brought a face made lowly to implore?
