نِ نَشوى لَقَد غالَ نَفساً حَبيبَه
By my life, if time’s vicissitudes have carried off
By my life, if time’s vicissitudes have carried off
my youthful rapture, they have indeed carried off a beloved soul.
Nashwa, they have indeed carried off a beloved soul.

Yet they taught me, through the recompense held in store
And yet my knowledge of what the reward holds
when calamity strikes, what makes the calamity forgotten.
at times of affliction makes me forget the affliction.
