The nobility of a poor man, self-restrained and content,
The generosity of a man in hardship, of good character and content
who lives within his means and spends sparingly,
He budgets in his livelihood and holds back

surpasses the nobility of every wealthy man
It exceeds the generosity of every wealthy man
who goes out evening and morning with abundant possessions.
Who travels and transgresses, having great possessions

And greater than your generosity with gifts
And more generous than you with gifts

Is the generosity of spirit for what you do not own
