أَسرَعَhastened فيin نَقصِthe decline of اِمرِئٍa man تَمامُهُhis perfection
أَسرَعَ في نَقصِ اِمرِئٍ تَمامُهُ
تُدبِرُretreat فيduring إِقبالِهِhis advance أَيّامُهُhis days
تُدبِرُ في إِقبالِهِ أَيّامُهُ
A man's perfection hastens his decline.
The perfection of a man is hastened by exposing his faults,
His days retreat as he advances.
While his days are spent scheming during his rise to power.
