أَلَيسَIs it not عَجيباًstrange بِأَنَّin that الفَتىthe young man
يُصابُis afflicted بِبَعضِin some of الَّذيwhat فيin يَدَيهِhis hands
Is it not strange that a young man
Is it not strange how the young man
suffers the loss of some of what is in his hands,
Gets afflicted by some of what is in his hands
فَمِنso, from بَينِamong باكٍone weeping لَهُfor him موجعٍanguished
وَبَينَand among مُعَزٍّone offering consolation مُغِذٍّhastening إِلَيهِto him
and has one weeping for him in anguish
So between one who weeps for him in pain
and another hastening to him with consolation,
And one who consoles him and nourishes him
وَيَسلُبُهُand robs him of الشَيبُgray hair شَرخَthe bloom of الشَبابِyouth
فَلَيسَyet not يُعزّيهِconsoles him خَلقٌa soul عَلَيهِfor it
yet gray hair robs him of the bloom of youth,
And old age robs him of his prime
and not a soul consoles him for it?
Yet no soul can comfort him
